We have decided to test the intelligence of our trout as a side experiment. Before we feed them we will gently tap on top of the tank 3 times. This experiment is modeled after Pavlov and his conditioned dog. Our hypothosis is that after a period of time when we tap the top 
of the tank they will be conditioned to swim to the surface to eat their food. Hopefully this will reduce excess food falling to the bottom of the tank.
